Lita Rossana Ford also known as Lita Ford, as she's popularly known as was an American born British singer and guitarist who was the leader of the only female hard rock group The Runaways during the late 1970s. Although the band did not have much success in the United States, they were hugely popular internationally. It was particularly true in Japan. Ford enjoyed a lengthy and successful career as a heavy-metal solo performer after the band split up in 1979. After taking voice lessons, she released her first self-titled album "Out for Blood" which was followed by "Dancin at the Edge". Ford failed to make any success with either record and remained out of the realm of rock for around an entire decade. In 1988, she came back to the world of music with a smashing album called 'Lita. Kiss Me Deadly (single) as well as Close My Eyes Forever (ballad) were her biggest hits. The success of her was short lived and for several additional years she was absent. Following the release of 'Black' in 1995, and then 'Wicked Wonderland 15 years afterwards it was back in the spotlight. The most recent album "Time Capsule," released in 2016. Her name was given The Certified Guitar Legend Award by the Guitar Player Magazine.
